EVOLUTION OF DARK AMBIENT

Oto Vajninger
March 7, 2015

When Metal music, electronic samples and punk provocation walk into a bar, get shitfaced drunk and have fabulous orgy., the baby is born in the early 80’s and it is named Industrial.

But Industrial is a difficult child, full of hate, abrasive, angry and most of all, horny.

It is not long after Industrial starts humping everything it gets in its way and starts spawning, and it is doing so at the alarming rate, to this day.

Spawns include: EBM, Death Industrial, Done metal, Electro industrial, Futurepop, Industrial metal, IDM, Power Noise, Neofolk and many, many more.

But one day Industrial got tired, it wanted to slow things down a bit so it married Ambient and settled down for a short while. Industrial run away from the marriage, child and chores and got back to its humping of every music genre it can find.

Result of this short marriage is Dark ambient.

Lonely, dark, incoherent and isolated child that loves art and solitude.

It travels the world by itself searching for many artists, junkies, lonely people that need it the most. And like a twisted fairy it sprinkles sounds from the dark. Sounds of slow working machines, white noise, old modems and universe.

It gives emotional background for loneliness, isolation, fear and all the daemons that make art at the end.

So maybe, one day, when you need inspiration or feel heartbroken and lonely it will sprinkle some sounds from the dark for you, never stop listening.
